Remove paint imperfections to bring back the gloss and clarity
Your vehicle’s paint goes through a lot. From daily driving, to bad weather, and repairs, your paint starts to get more and more imperfections. Swirl marks from improper washing, minor scratches from daily use, stubborn water spots, and unsightly bird droppings all take a toll. Slowly but surely, that glossy finish starts looking dull and faded.
Paint correction is how we fix that. By removing those imperfections, we’re able to restore the paint’s clarity and shine—often making it look even better than the day you picked it up from the dealership.
So how do those pesky swirl marks get there in the first place? Usually, it’s poor washing and drying practices. Rubbing a dusty towel over your car or reusing a dirty mitt can push grit into the clear coat, leaving behind fine scratches that add up over time.
Step 1: Deep Prep Work
Before anything touches a polisher, we give the vehicle a full wash and decontamination. This includes wheel and tire cleaning, iron removal to break down embedded particles, and a full clay bar pass to remove bonded contaminants. By the end of this stage, the paint feels smooth to the touch and is fully prepped for polishing.
Step 2: Precision Polishing
Now the real magic begins. Using a combination of pads, polishers, and compounds, we start removing the imperfections. Sometimes this is a quick one-step polish; other times, it’s a multi-stage correction that takes hours or even a couple of days. It depends on the condition of the paint and the final look you’re going for.
Step 3: Protect The Paint
Once the paint is looking clean and corrected, we finish the job with a layer of protection. Whether it’s a premium sealant or a long-lasting ceramic coating, we make sure the new shine is locked in and ready to last. Sealants typically protect for a few months, while ceramic coatings can go strong for years.
Whether you’re getting ready for a sale, sprucing up for an event, or just treating your car to some overdue attention, Lucky Car Detailing has options to fit your needs.
Single-Stage Polish: Great for cars in fairly good shape that just need a light refresh. This package knocks out around 50% of the visible imperfections and brings a solid boost in shine.
Two-Stage Correction: Perfect for paint that’s seen better days. This option targets 80% or more of the visible swirls and scratches, restoring depth, clarity, and an eye-catching finish.
Even cars that rolled off the same factory line can need totally different levels of correction. That’s why we always start with a full assessment before making any recommendations.
And remember—Lucky Car Detailing is 100% mobile. That means we bring the detail shop straight to your home or office anywhere in the Greater Boston area and beyond.
Lucky Car Detailing is dedicated to providing top-tier detailing services. We serve Boston, Cambridge, Newton, Wellesley, Dedham, Needham, Stoneham, Somerville, and Malden.
At Lucky Car Detailing, we don’t just grab a buffer and go to town. We take a careful, methodical approach that puts your vehicle’s condition first. Go in too aggressively with the wrong tool or compound, and you risk damaging the clear coat—that’s a mistake we don’t make.
We take the time to inspect every vehicle before starting. Not every scratch is worth chasing, especially if it means shaving off too much clear coat. Our goal is to make your paint look incredible without compromising its long-term health.
Every vehicle has its own quirks—paint type, level of damage, age—and we adjust the process accordingly. What works on a newer luxury SUV won’t be the same for a daily-driven sedan, and that’s exactly why a tailored approach matters.
We’re not just about fixing up your paint. Lucky Car Detailing offers a wide variety of interior and exterior services in Boston, MA to bring your entire vehicle back to a like-new condition.
Ceramic Coating: Give your vehicle a serious upgrade with a professional ceramic coating. It forms a hydrophobic barrier that repels water, grime, and contaminants—all while keeping your paint looking fresh and glossy.
Exterior Detailing: From wheels to paint, we’ll get the exterior glossy again. This includes a full wash, clay bar decontamination, and sealant application. It’s a great maintenance option if you’re not ready for a full correction.
Interior Detailing: Tired of looking at stains, crumbs, or built-up dust? Our deep interior clean tackles everything from carpet shampooing to leather conditioning. It’s a total reset for your interior.
Headlight Restoration: Faded, yellowed headlights aren’t just unattractive—they’re also unsafe. We sand, polish, and seal them to improve visibility and enhance your vehicle’s appearance.
Engine Bay Cleaning: A clean engine bay doesn’t just look better—it can also help you spot issues before they become serious. We safely remove gunk, grease, and buildup for a tidy, presentable finish.
Odor Removal: If your car has lingering odors from smoke, pets, or food, we’ll track down the source and neutralize it. The result? A fresh, clean-smelling interior you actually want to spend time in.
Mold Removal: You can drive around in your car with a dirty vehicle but you can’t do that when your interior has mold. That poses an actual risk to your health and needs to be taken care of as soon as possible. We effectively remove the mold so you have a safe and clean car to drive in.
Fleet Washing: Managing a group of work vehicles or need someone to manage a group wash event? We offer mobile fleet washing services that keep every vehicle looking sharp.
How long does polishing paint take?
Anywhere from a few hours to two full days. It all depends on how much correction your paint needs and the type of results you’re aiming for. We’ll go over that with you during the quote process.
Is paint correction safe for my paint?
Yes, when done correctly. We use paint thickness gauges, test spots, and the correct combination of tools and products to keep your clear coat safe. We’re trained and experienced in safe correction methods. It can be bad when you don’t test, you use an overly aggressive method, and you burn through the paint.
Can all scratches be removed?
Not all of them. If a scratch has gone through the clear coat or into the base layer, it can’t be polished out completely. But we can reduce how noticeable those deeper ones are.
What kind of tools do you use?
We carry a full setup of professional-grade polishers in multiple sizes, compounds, microfiber pads, and lighting gear. From tight corners to large flat panels, we’ve got the right equipment to do the job right. We always check the paint thickness before starting to make sure we’re not overworking thin or sensitive areas.
Is paint correction the same as waxing?
Not quite. Wax or sealant adds shine, but it doesn’t fix anything—it just masks very light defects temporarily. Paint correction, on the other hand, actually removes the defects that are dulling the surface. The results last much longer and look significantly better.
If your car’s paint isn’t popping like it used to, a proper paint correction can make all the difference. Whether you’re prepping for a special event or just want to enjoy that showroom shine again, we’ll bring top-tier service right to your driveway in Boston or the surrounding areas.
